The Northern Lights bath bomb ($5.95) is a purple stick that has tiny white stars on the outside. Bath bombs' main purpose is for aromatherapy effect and to make the bath water more visually appealing. They start fizzing and dissolving once you drop them into the bath water and leave a beautiful colored trail behind them wherever they float. I get pretty excited whenever I drop one in the bath, I think part of it is I'm just excited to be taking the time to have a relaxing bath, and part of it is the mystery of what colors will be inside and how they will look all swirled together, but it definitely never gets old for me. This particular bath bomb smells of jasmine and ylang yang, I would best describe it as a woodsy floral scent. It certainly is a colorful bath bomb with layers of purple, blue, and vibrant green, giving your bath water the appearance of the beautiful wintertime Northern Lights it is named after. It is not necessarily a Christmas bath bomb but I would consider it to pass for wintery.
The other bath bomb I picked up is Butterbear ($4.95). He has the same formulation as a year round bath bomb Lush sells, Butterball, but for Christmas he has been molded into an adorable little polar bear. He smells of sweet vanilla, which I always associate with winter and find it to be a really soothing scent, making it perfect for relaxation time in the bath. As you can see Butterbear is white aside from his little brown nose which is actually colored with cocoa powder, he has no colorful surprises hiding inside of him, but what he does have are little pieces of cocoa butter inside him that melt in the warm bath water. The cocoa butter pieces moisturize your dry winter skin during the bath and you will step out silky smooth!
This little guy is the Christmas Hedgehog bubble bar ($7.25). I was so excited when I saw him, because he is so cute, and he reminds me of the hedgehogs from the Jan Brett books, like "The Mitten", which I always loved reading around Christmas time. The bubble bars at Lush are a dense play dough consistency. I usually cut mine into thirds or fourths, so I can use it multiple times. You crumble up the portion you are using under the running water and swirl it around the tub to make bubbles. I typically take baths in a jetted tub, and once I turn those jets on I get mountains of velvety bubbles from all of the Lush bubble bars I've used. This little hedgehog I have today is white with blue prickles and a little blue nose with white glitter covering him. He smells like lavender and ylang ylang, and contains essential oils, shea, and cocoa butter, so I think he will pair nicely with Northern Lights since they have similar scents and he adds a moisturizing quality to the water that the bath bomb alone would not impart. Aside from the bubbles the moisturizing ingredients this bubble bar contains make the water incredibly silky and luxurious. He is definitely a product that will elevate your bath to something special.
Lastly we have the Snow Angel bath melt ($7.95). Bath melts are similar in consistency to chocolate, they are scented and are full of moisturizing ingredients that will transform the water into a wonderful silky bath that will leave your skin feeling hydrated and baby soft. I cut them into halves or thirds and drop a piece in the bath water to melt. This was another item I couldn't wait to get my hands on this year because of the scent it has. For the past several years I always get Lush's Snowcake soap which has an AMAZING marzipan scent that I am just head over heals for. If you don't know what marzipan is, it is a sweet almond paste, and naturally it smells like sweet creamy almonds, and this bath melt has the same scent as the Snowcake soap, so I had to have it! Snow Angel is a pretty white angel shape with a gold back with a bit of gold glitter on it. The main moisturizing agent in this bath melt is cocoa butter and then it has little bit of bath bomb fizziness in it and gold shimmer that gives the bath water magical sparkly look to it.
I will forever be picking up Christmas products from lush for a special Christmas bath, and this year's offerings did not disappoint! Did you pick up any Christmas items from Lush this year? Are there any items you look forward to treating yourself to around the holidays each year?
Till Next Time,
Stephanie
