Pixi Glow Tonic

This week on the blog we have a total skincare game changer, the Pixi Glow Tonic.  This gentle acid toner became part of my skincare routine on a recommendation from the skincare guru, Caroline Hirons.  I had heard her rave so much about acid toning and suggested this one for more sensitive younger skin types, so I decided to pick it up.  It is alcohol free and contains 5% Glycolic Acid, Aloe Vera, and Ginseng.  I ordered it from the Pixi Website for $29 for an 8.5 fl oz. bottle.  I don't know if you remember about that big breakout I had this past summer when I ran out of face wash.  It had settled down once I started using the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, but I still had quite a few under the skin bumps lingering around on my forehead.  Well once I began using this toner back in September those pesky lurkers were totally annihilated.

The idea behind acid toning is to use an acid to exfoliate your skin instead of a mechanical scrub that has beads or other hard bits that physically rub off dead skin cells.  I chose the Pixi Glow Tonic because it is a more mild acid that I could use every day on my sensitive skin,  it has soothing ingredients in the formula such as aloe and ginseng to further calm my sensitive skin.  Lastly it does not contain alcohol in the formula which would most certainly dry out my skin and create even more dead skin build up which is precisely the thing I am trying to remedy by using this product in the first place.  After the skin has been lightly exfoliated with this product it is totally prepped for the rest of your skincare.  Since the dead skin has been removed whatever you put on after such as a serum, treatment, or moisturizer will be able to be absorbed into the skin and be effective.

the Pixi Glow Tonic comes in a plastic bottle with a mint green lid that screws off.  The mouth of the bottle has a small hole in the top so you can soak a cotton pad with the product in a controlled manner.  I personally prefer a flip top that has a pump just for the convenience, but the packaging is certainly functional as it is, just not anything special.  After washing my face, I then apply this all over my face and neck with a cotton pad and follow up with serum and moisturizer.  I have tried two different kinds of cotton pads that I purchased from target, a regular cotton pad and an exfoliating cotton pad that has a bumpy side and a smooth side.  I prefer the regular pads because I feel like the product is more in contact with your skin with the smooth pad.  The exfoliating pads do feel like to give good physical exfoliation as well, but are too much for my skin for everyday use.  The good thing is the exfoliating pads have a smooth side, so if you want to give them a try and you don't like them you can just flip them over and use the smooth side.

Since using the Pixi Glow Tonic for over a month now I have completely gotten rid on any under this skin bumps that just hang out for ages but don't ever do anything.   That has made a huge improvement on how smooth my skin looks.  I do still get blemishes because unfortunately that is just how my skin is, but I have noticed that when I use this product they heal up and vanish significantly faster than they previously did.  I would absolutely recommend this to everyone whether you want to help smooth out and clear up your skin or just help your other products sink into your skin better.  For me it has become a huge must in my skin care routine, and right now Pixi Beauty is offering 20% off with the code PIXIFY as well as free shipping with orders over $25.  What toners have you tried in your skincare routine?

Till Next Time,
Stephanie
